The Kingshill Research Centre is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of healthcare and research professionals. Working closely with the Department of Old Age Psychiatry at the Victoria Hospital, Swindon, UK, they contribute to the provision of an integrated programme of care for the patient. Team members are all extremely experienced and highly qualified in their respective fields. Individually and collectively, they take pride in and are committed to producing data of the highest quality, understanding the need to adhere scrupulously to protocols whilst keeping the patients best interests at heart. Formerly part of Kingshill Research Centre, the Memory Clinic is now managed by the Department of Old Age Psychiatry. Below is a brief introduction to the members of the Kingshill team, with a short description of their roles. More detailed biographies for some members of the team can be found in the Biographies section of the site.

Dr Roger Bullock - Director and Principal InvestigatorThe Centre is headed by Dr Bullock who is the Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry at the Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Care Partnership NHS Trust. He is responsible for the care of everyone who is referred to the Department of Old Age Psychiatry or Kingshill Research Centre. Link to biography of Dr Roger Bullock

Dr Venkatesh - Research FellowDr Venkatesh sees patients attending the Memory and Prescribing clinics, where it is his job to draw together all the information from psychological and medical tests into a final assessment. He will discuss the treatment options, one of which may be to take part in a clinical trial. Dr Venkatesh also screens patients wishing to take part in clinical trials to ensure that there is no reason why they should not do so.

Helen Cartwright - Clinical Trials Co-ordinatorHelen co-ordinates and oversees the day to day running of clinical trials, liaises with sponsors and supervises clinical trials staff. Additionally, she takes on the role of research nurse as time allows.

Research NursesOur Research Nurses,
Carole, Sara and Nicole take responsibility for co-ordinating individual
studies. They see patients and carers at the centre or visit them in their
homes, conduct some of the tests that are needed for clinical trials and
are on hand to give advice and support. They also complete the trial paperwork
and ensure ICH GCP and the resulting SOPs are adhered to. |

Sarah Voss - Research Psychologist (P/T)Sarah is a psychologist. She conducts research into the different aspects of memory that may be affected by dementia. This information can then be used to help find better ways of diagnosing dementia and evaluating the effectiveness of treatments. This research is contributing towards her Ph.D. on the neuropsychological aspects of dementia.

Anna Marriott - Research AssistantHaving gained experience as an assistant psychologist, Anna is assisting DR Bullock and Sarah, analysing data collected by our Memory and Prescribing clinics, evaluating the tests we are using and also providing general research support for the Academic Research Team. She has also just started looking at the expectations and perceptions, of patients and carers, of the the drugs currently licensed for use in Alzheimer's disease.

Business AdministratorThe Business Administrator maintains an overview of the Unit's work and direction in conjunction with the Director, facilitating research and development. (S)he is responsible for some aspects of the financial management of the Centre, as well as for marketing it locally, nationally and internationally.

Emma Murray - Administrative AssistantEmma is responsible for welcoming people to the Centre. She plays an important role in the administration of clinical trials, also providing administrative support for other members of the Kingshill team. |

Kate Thomas - Memory Clinic CoordinatorKate is a nurse and has a psychology degree and a Masters in ageing. She has supervisory responsibility for the Assistant Psychologists. This involves organising the psychologists' day-to-day workload, as well as conducting assessments within the Memory Clinic and Aricept Prescribing clinic and Clinical Trials. She also conducts small-scale research projects.

Assistant PsychologistsLouise and Jeannette are trained psychologists who help Kate in carrying out assessments for both patients and carers, in the centre and in their homes. They also take part in small scale research projects. |
